I specialize in dealing with adolescent issues including self-esteem, decision-making, impulse-control and self-identity. I believe that similar problems in these areas may persist into adulthood. Therefore, I encourage adolescents and adults to explore the challenges that have been holding them back from pursuing their goals and help them develop the skill set they need in order to move forward. I provide a comfortable and safe environment for individuals to explore unresolved conflicts, past trauma, and the impact of their developmental experiences on their current lives. In addition to private practice, I also work as a Mental Health Consultant providing guidance and training for case workers working with children and families.
Educational background: In 2007, I received a Bachelors degree in Psychology at the University of Rhode Island. In 2010, I received a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Throughout my studies, I completed two internships while providing mental health care for the psychiatric unit at Newport Hospital in Newport, Rhode Island and Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, NY.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor that provides individual and family therapy for children, adolescents and adults. Before starting a private practice, I worked for a non-profit agency providing intensive psychotherapy for troubled young people and adults. In individual therapy, I help people who are struggling with school, work, addiction and relationship issues. I also have experience helping people who are dealing with depression, anxiety, emotional/behavioral problems and life transitions. In family therapy, I work on helping families improve communication, learn to resolve conflict and understand the impact of family history, roles and relationship patterns.
